I will be in Vienna on Christmas Eve and Christmas. Are restaurants typically open for dinner during these dates? If so, can you recommend some very good resturants for these nights? I will be with my family for dinner so I am looking for resturants that would be special for this occasion. Thank you in advance.
24th :this is a tricky date, it is reserved for the families, also of the restaurant-owners and staff, and it will be hard to tell for sure NOW, if they are open or not ( I mean they will put a piece of paper at their door maybe 1 day in advance) 25th : its a holiday but all of the better restaurants will be open very good restaurants : Griechenbeisl -the oldest restaurant in Vienna, cosy, nice, great kitchen and interior Fieglmueller - expensive and well known for their Wr. Schnitzel Zu den 3 Husaren - maybe the very best place in Vienna, BUT also really expensive with lots of waiters around your table, a cover-charge, fine tablecloth etc. NOT really a place for children...

Thank you so much for your recommendations. There are no kids on the trip so hopefully one of the restaurants you've mentioned will accommodate us. I looked at your pages, but will look at them more closely to get more information. I will be starting out in Munich, but will head into Innsbruck, Salzburg, and then Vienna.

I understand. I am oringally from Guatemala so Christmas Eve is the day and evening we celebrate and exchange gifts. I am looking forward to celebrating Christmas Viennese-style. Thank you again.
