I'm trying to buy Metro tickets for our trip to Paris in May. The RER tickets are included in the Paris Visit plan. Most of my visit will be spent in central Paris, so I will be buying the tickets for zone 1-3. I'm wondering if I should buy a 1 day ticket for zones 1-6 to include Versaille. (It's in zone 4). The cost is30, Would it be better to buy a RER ticket separately for the day? Would the price be better for this option?
You're better off buying separately. A round-trip ticket will cost you less than 6 euros (5.40 last time I checked). For Paris, your best bet is to buy a carnet of 10 tickets for 11 euros. Enjoy Paris

Like Pomerol says: when you arrive in Paris, buy the carnet of 10 tickets (T+ tickets). You can get them at any metro station for 11.10 euro (separate tickets are 1.50 per ticket). Within Paris, I might usually have about 2-4 metro rides on a day. Or none. With the carnet tickets, that would cost me no more than 4.50 EUR per day. You might not actually get your money's worth out of the Paris Visite pass. Compare Paris Visite and T+ Tickets on www.ratp.fr (English version available) under Discover Paris.
