    • Venice and day trips

      Venice Dec 2, 2014 at 3:30 AM

I'm going to Venice for my birthday in february (2 days after the carnival ends). This is going to be my second time in Venice. I booked the same hotel there.

As I love the city, this time I want to explore also more of the Veneto places. I have only 3.5 days. I'm not that into museums or churches, I like to explore beautiful cities with nice views and good atmosphere. Where do you recommend me to go?

I thought for the first day to take a train to Verona. The second day train to Cittadella, Vicenza and Bassano del grappa (is it doable all 3 in the same day??) the third day to Padova and more of venice and the forth day again Venice. Is that a good plan? Should I go to other places instead? I wish I could go to the dolmitie mountains or lake garda but it's too far and not the season (not into doing ski) so maybe next time...

Also, in Venice I really liked the 3 islands, especially burano so I'll go there again, but I've never been to Lido. Should I go just to see it or not because it's off the season?? do you have any other suggestions for places to go for someone who was in Venice? I did the Doge's palace tour, I went into the tower to see the view and the basilica, even a bit at the local island (Juduca I think is the name?)

      Thanks for any help! :)

    • How about traveling to Venice for the Carnival 2015 with two kids (2 & 4)

      Venice Dec 1, 2014 at 7:18 AM

      Hello there!

I'm wondering if it is wise to visit Venice during the next Carnival for 2015 with two little kids (ages 2 & 4).
I'm looking apartments with Airbnb. Is out there a better solution? I imagine hotels are very expensive in those days.

Do you have a good web to learn everything important related to the Carnival in Venice?

      Thanks a lot!

    • Verona to Milan Malpensa?

by nadine356 Online Now Jun 22, 2014 at 5:18 AM

I have a 7 am international flight leaving Milan Malpensa on Monday, June 30th. I'm trying to get to Milan Malpensa from Verona to catch that flight (need to be there at around 5 am). Are there any early morning trains or buses from Verona to Milan to get to the airport by 5ish?? I have been struggling to find early morning trips online, and I'm considering going to Milan the night before and staying in a hostel. If that is the only case, are there any recommendations for low budget places close to the airport? Thanks

by ponyandboat Online Now Nov 24, 2013 at 9:00 AM

My hosts near Verona recommend I bring a sleeping bag to use at their house. I do not really want to travel with a sleeping bag. I would rather buy a cheap, warm blanket I will use while I am with them and give it to them when I leave.

Where should I go to shop for a warm, inexpensive blanket around Verona?

by Solros Online Now Oct 20, 2013 at 11:07 AM

I want to leave a review for a restaurant/café in Piazza delle Erbe but I just cant remember what it was called! Does anyone live in Verona or maybe a tourist with better memory than me? Its a place kind of in the middle of the square on the right hand side if you come from Juliet´s house, they have red table cloths and its the last one on the corner with the street going out right towards Piazza dei Signori. I´ve been googling for about an hour now and cant find anything!

    • Verona - end of October

by Andi39 Online Now Aug 9, 2013 at 9:14 AM

We are planning a visit to Verona at the end of October with the family. My questions are the following:
      1) What sort of weather should we expect around that time of the year? Is it usually still pleasant (with mild temperatures, only jumpers needed etc.), or do we need our coats, should we expect rain etc? What are evenings like?
      2) If we want to visit some places around Verona, should we opt for train or bus? (Alternatively, should we consider renting a car?) Which is the most reasonable means of transport, as far as prices are concerned? By the way, are prices the same if we purchase the tickets in advance?
      3) What about student discount (museums, public transportation etc.) in Italy? Can our children get reduced prices, or is this not so widespread in Italy?
      Thank you!
