Hello, I am traveling to Venice next weeka nd will be staying in a hotel at the grand canal. As i am travling with my kids please can someone tell me if there are any macdonald outlets around? thanks
1. There is definitely one nearabouts the San Marco area of Venice. No idea about the price. 2. Rostecceri (Rosticcerie/Rotisserie) have lovely hot roast chicken (Euro 4.89=full chicken), besides other very good alternatives. You may like to try these also.

Unfortunately there is a McDonald's restaurant also in Venezia ….perhaps more than one. A lot of people think that Italy is "pasta, pizza (and other but without connecting with food)" Why don’t introduce kids to this “tasty world” ? Pizza and pasta are more cheerful and funnier than McDonald's menu. Trust me, you won’t be disappoint by the Italian food. And your kids also. Buon appetito! *Nico*

And there is also a Hard Rock Cafe - but hey, you're going to Italy, so do try and eat local Italian food!

McDonalds, Burger Kings (in some Euro countries),Pizza Hut, Subway, Domino's Pizza, Starbucks, KFC, they are all over here. a friend of my from NYC married an Italian lady in Capri, lives there for about 20 years now, still insist the best pizzas are from New York City, and I too ::)

Without editorializing about the appropriateness of dining there, to answer your question, yes, and I'm pretty sure there is only one, it's on Strada Nova, very near Ca' d'Oro, not near San Mark's.

There is one there but why waste your time in such an awful place when there is far better food for kids to eat in Italy.

I went to a MacDonald's in Venice back in 2007 which as I recall was very near to St Mark's but maybe that is not the case anymore. I alsoo recommend the Brek chain as advised by craic. There is a Breke about 100 meters from Santa Lucia Train Station. You can pick what you want from a buffet of sorts and you know how much each item is going to cost you before you get to the cash register. The food is basic Italian and we found it good value for money.

I confirm one McDonald in Strada Nova, near San Marco... no comment about their food as everybody knows it, it is the same as anywhere in the world.. Brek has decent Italian food and it is conveniently located near the train station. Do try ice cream and local bakery, they are really nice. Happy travel

Ditto all the above - however I am prepared to go a little further. In my opinion, eating in MacDonalds in Venice is akin to daubing graffiti on the walls of the Cistine Chapel in Rome. Please, please, please - do not do it.

I see you have a lot of answers and extra information, plus opinion. Some of these folks have not had children...I am sure. When you get off the train in Venice and exit onto the canal, go left, and follow the signs to McDonalds. They will say, 5 minutes, but with children it will be more time... Also, do not expect the same service in Italy, the hamburgers will have been setting awhile, and the fries usually not hot because of the same. Way too much salt, as usual. The cheeseburgers and hamburgers are only one euro, and I see a lot of teenagers buying the happy meal box. In all of Italy, where I have been there seems to be a Micky D next to the train station. Don't expect to find a Dominos, or submarine joints. You get sandwiches in a bar.. and you can ask them to put tomatoes and mayo on it if you like that. They usually come dry and with very thin slices of meat. The pizza is different, in that they use OO flour, and get a thin crust. After you have had a few, you will realize that this pizza is awesome. best of luck when you are here in Venice. Dave

I live in New York City, and I hate the pizza here. It literally drips oil and cheese; the "crust" is really a sponge. My favorite is thin crust made in Italy. There are a few NYC joints that serve up that crunchy cardboard, too.

Yes, the pizza in Italy grows on you....the crust is great, I have found some super places that make a tasty crust, and I don't need to have a pile of toppings like I used to. It's all a different way... and local customs. One reason for going to a new country is to see how they do things. Hence all the shows about cooking.. Anthony Bourdain, and others. They even show those American shows here in Italy.
