June 2012 - Venice

by liathking Online Now May 14, 2012 at 4:55 AM

Heading to a wedding in Malcesine in June but have a couple of nights in Venice beforehand. Looking at flying into Treviso with Ryanair, what is the best way to get to Venice from here? In Venice I've looked at staying in B&Bs rather than hotels as this holiday is costing, I keep on going back to B&B Ca'Furlan so think I may book this. With regards to leaving to head to Malcesine I know I have to get the train to verona and then get a bus from the station. Been on the trenitalia website but unsure of which station I should be leaving from? Any help will be great, thanks!

If you are staying on Venice island then you will be leaving from Santa Flavia Station.

From Treviso airport to Venezia, there is a direct bus. Timetable here: atvo.it/images_doc/linee/TV_... The train station of Venezia is Santa Lucia. Nico

If you are looking to cut costs then you might be better to stay in Mestre, on the mainland, where accomm is cheaper. It's a much nicer place than I expected (I was there in March) and there are trains literally every couple of minutes across the causeway to Venice Santa Lucia station (costs less than 2 euro). The excellent ATVO bus stops in Mestre on its way to/from Treviso airport. Click the clock on the link above to see timetables. Here's the Verona>Malcesine bus timetable: tech.atv.verona.it/atv_www/o... The bus station is directly outside the railway station, which makes life easier. :-)
