I have probelms with sounds during the night, i wake up with everything so anytime i travel I try to find an Hotel in a very quiet are... So between Hotel Alveri, Hotel Al Vivit, and Hotel Venezia, i think that the zone more quieter is on Hotel Alvei is situated, almost desert... I like the Hotel, it's new, the train station is 800 meters far, but i don't know if they are bus stations (close to the Hotel) that take me directly to Piazzale Roma and how far the Hotel they are... Could someone help me?? And are this a safe zone to walk at night?? http://www.hotelalveri.it/en And the adress :Via Giuseppe Paganello, 18 30174, Mestre

We stayed at the Mary Hotel (Minotel) in Campalto on the mainland. It is only 15 minutes by bus from Piazzale Roma and is in a quiet suburban village roughly half way between the airport and Venice. There are other hotels in the area and it is more pleasant and I would guess quieter than the Mestre. Campalto has local shops, cafes and restaurants. The bus stops very close to the hotel. Hope this helps and enjoy Venice. Bruce

I've just come back from a 4 night stay in Mestre. I stayed at the Hotel Cris...excellent. I'd considered the Alveri but it's a longish way from the station/airport buses and also a longish walk from Mestre's historcial centre (which was *much* nicer than I'd expected...lovely place to wander in the evening). The Al Vivit and Venezia are quite a long way from the station/buses, although more central. You'll need bus or a long walk (20 mins?) to get to the station..there are, of course, buses which serve the town (although its historical centre is largely pedestrianised). Bus 2 goes to Venice itself. So it really depends on what you want to do. The Alveri is better for station, airport and getting to/from Venice by train but you are right that the immediate does not offer a vast range of places to eat etc in the evening (although the area is safe enough)....you'll have to walk into central Mestre, or around the station, to get a wider choice. But if you are happy to be some distance away from the station then the Al Vivit or Venezia will be fine. Even better, see if the Cris has a room within your budget...you won't be disappointed (it's listed on www.booking.com). :-)
