Boating Holidays in Venice lagoon

Thinking about booking a boating holiday in the Venice lagoon in which we would motor and sleep onboard for 7 days in the area to visit the islands, beaches, natural areas and of course the city itself. Has anyone had experience with this type of holiday in this location. Please be specific with good and bad aspects. Thanks
