Hello all : I am researching institutions offering CELTA courses in Caracas . I am wondering if anyone knows the area where the "British Council" is located. The address is given as ; Avenida Santa Lucia, Caracas, Venezuela . I would like to know about the safety of the area , if there are convenient locations close by e.g. restaurants , hospital, supermarket etc , the part of Caracas (district ) where it is located and any other info you think might be useful . I thank you very much .

Hello, I am a journalist for a major media outlet in the US. I have been to Brazil and Mexico in Latin America, and I want to head down to Caracas in March 2013. I know things are a bit rough there politically right now, but I wonder how safe is it to visit as a foreign journalist? I am a radio journalist, and have a small flash recorder with a microphone. Obviously I will stand out, but I'm wondering how likely am I to get robbed that way? What is a safe way to get a few interviews down there? Is it even possible? I am reporting on the environment and if possible I'd like to talk about the politics there as well. Am I going to find this impossible? I speak fairly good spanish, but I unfortunately am a blond haired california looking American. I'm considering growing a beard and wearing my hair out. Would it even help to say I am Canadian? Anyway, I want to see if anybody has any ideas or thoughts on this subject. Thank you!
Hi all, I am currently in Colombia heading to Cartagena. I need to be in Caracas on Sat 26 Jan so I am there in good time ahead of my flight back to reality on Sun 27th. I've taken a look on the web re flights. It isn't attractive since I am being quoted near £400 for a flights that aren't direct. Does anyone have any advice on traveling from Cartagena to Caracas please? I trust it will be too far to do in 1 day and if that is a correct assumption, is there anywhere recommended to break up the journey so I am spend the night asleep in a hotel rather than on a bus? Any help much appreciated.
So would anyone say that Isla Margarita, Venuzuela is a better place overall to vacation than Cartagena, Columbia ? If so why? If no, why not? I haven't decided on which to vacation yet... Input would be greatly be appreciated.
Hi is there a wifi access in puerto Cabello? Thanks

Hi guys, Just wondering if anyone has made the crossing at Maicao/Maracaibo recently and has any feedback? I'm flying into Caracas on 21 May and was planning on heading west, stopping at the coast at points along the way and ultimately crossing into north-east Colombia, maybe via a Maracaibo - Santa Marta bus. However, I've heard some mixed experiences of people crossing the border between the countries (and this border point in particular), so just seeking some reassurances/advice, ha. Also.. any recommendations on places to visit/avoid while travelling west in Venezuela would be more than welcome. Any responses would be much appreciated. Cheers, Bob

I am planning on going to Caracas in October and wish to spend two weeks hiking to Mount Roraima, seeing Angel Falls,a nd relax at Los Roques. I am looking for information on travel (air or surface) from Caracas to Santa Elena de Uairen such as who offers the services, costs, and timing. Next, options about securing guide and assistance for a five day hike to Mount Roraima. Should I arrange this there or before leaving. Then I wish to go to Canaima for a three day hike- canoe to see Salto Angel. Again, I am looking for guidance on whether this is something better arranged locally or in advance? Finally, I wish to fly from Caniama to Los Roques, and am looking for flight information and accommodation there. Thanks
What happens when you get caught with more money? Do you really go to jail? Are you kept at the police house? How do you get an attorney? How long does it take to get released? I was just there and luckily I was not searched. I am used to traveling with more money and did not no the law, but saw the signs when I arrived and was scared to death. But now I am safe, not in Caracus any more so I am curious what would have happened. I had no problems, all of the Venezuelan people I dealt with were very nice, helpful, honest, and my experience was good. The customs and immigration officials were respectful and no problem. So if they had searched me and found3500 US on me would I have been able to buy my way out? I was planning on spending money there. Why is that a crime? It helps the local businesses. Just curious what would have happened and has any one gone to jail for this law?

Hi guys, I'm booked for Venezuela for 2 weeks at the end of summer and was wondering if Caracas, Los Roques and Angel Falls was an okay itinerary. I'm thinking a a couple of days in the city, then head to the falls for a few days and Los Roques for bulk of it. How isolated is Los Roques and how many days in "enough" in Angle falls? I also need to know what's the best way to get around. Thanks!
