15 in Venezuela, where to go?

I'm going to visit a friend that lives in Valencia, will arrive on the 31Jul08 for 2 weeks trip. For that period of time, what you would advise to visit? I'm not looking for beaches, I'd like to meet Venezuelan and understand how they live and think... all it's culture! Advise would be the mountains, Amazonas...? Tks for help
