We will be in Rome the last Sunday of October. I understand that the Vatican City museums are open the last Sunday of every month. To be specific, are the Vatican City Museums, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peters Basilica all open on the last Sunday of the month? Do you know the hours? How early would you suggest that we get there to minimize the wait in line (and how long do you think that would be)? Note: We are arriving on Saturday and could go on Saturday, but will likely be exhausted from a sleepless night on the plane from NYC. Also, does anyone know a good Vatican City tour guide for a couple of hours? We don't need to see everything. Just an overview. Thanks for your help! -Aliza
Your assumptions are correct. The basilica/museum and sistine chapel will all be open on the last Sunday in October. The museum has a policiy of letting people in @ 9.00/10.00/11.00 and 12.00 o' clock The Sistine Chapel opens @ 9.00 am and last entry time is 12.30pm. It closes at 1.45 pm Presto Tours offer guided tours. I don't have the website but just google Presto Tours.
