Walking from Garibaldi to Milan Centrale

      Milan 21 hours ago

I've street viewed it, pretty easy, turn right off Gioia down Pirelli.
But we may be rushed, and I fear the metro, in a rush, could be just as problematic. We are aiming for the 08:20 to Tirano, get in on the 07:10 sleeper from Rome.
The train used to pull into Central at 06:55 but it now comes into Garibaldi and we are all booked.
My query is really that street view was taken with these boards up along the north side of Gioia and I cant see how pedestrians make their way out of the statiion in that direction. The maps show a park north of Gioia up to the station. If it's obvious, e.g.. they've finshed building, you just walk out of the front of the station now and it's all clear, just keep to the left till you get to the dual carriage way Gioia and turn left, under the road spanning building and then turn right down pirelli and keep going, just say.
I make the walk 1km dead, which with 10 people on an unfamilair tube system with a critical arrival time isnt worth the track mileage of getting the metro.

We are doing this fyi. So no, we cant change either the arrival or departure details for Milan.

      Last Supper and city tour

      Milan Jun 10, 2013 at 12:00 AM

      Hello everyone,

looking to book tickets to see the Last Supper in Milan. We would like to combine it with a city tour as well and have seen on some websites that this can be done. I don't see any other option but booking through a tourist site such as Viator, so just wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to where would be the best place to book it.
We are from Australia if this means anything and will be in Milan 26th-27th July.

      Hello travel gurus,
I will be in Italy May 22-June 25. I want to use the train some of the time. Taking into account that it will be busy and some of my destinations are popular...Is it worth my time and money I purchase Eurorail (which is First Class)from the states or purschase 2nd class when in Italy. My girlfriend and I are in our 30's-40's and have no physical limitations.
      Thank very much.

by Erika77 Online Now Sep 1, 2009 at 8:29 AM

Hello and help, prego! My husband and I will be arriving in Milan Thursday evening, planning to spend a long weekend in Varenna. Our flight will arrive in Milan well before the last bus leaves and a few minutes before the last train departs for Varenna. We've got a B&B already booked for the night at Lake Como and really don't want to have to spend the night in Milan. How much would a taxi cost to take us to Menaggio? Are there any other ways we might be able to get there? Thank you very much for your time and response. Erika

    • recommended restuarant in Varenna

by MimiPawPaw Online Now Dec 27, 2007 at 11:01 AM

We will arrive in Varenna on Saturday, March 22, 2008, and would like recommendations of good, reasonably priced restuarants or bistros or cafes in the vicinity of the Duomo. We would like to walk to the restuarant and to have a place we could call "home" for the 4 days, 3 nights we are there. We enjoy very much having a familiar place to eat while we are on trips. We enjoy healthy dishes made with fresh vegetables and local ingredients. The simplier the better. We would like to have a selection of main courses in the 5-10 euro range, if possible. We really appreciate any suggestions. Also, we would like to locate a grocer. Thank you very much. Mimi

Does anybody know some details about weather in Varenna. I should stay there for 10 days from 18-28 July 2006. I couldn't find at any site probably because Varenna is too small place. The closest place I found weather details for is Como. Is it OK? Does it matches weather in Varenna?

Does the ferry from Varenna to Menaggio carry autos? We are planning a day trip from Lierna to Lugano and would like to go thru Varenna, ferry to Menaggio, drive to Lugano, spend the day and return at early evening. I see the rate schedule and time schedule but can not tell if there is a rate per car? per person plus the car? Can you help. We arrive early October. Thank you. Jim Moreau

We will be getting off the train in Varenna and going to the ferry stop to take ferry to Bellagio. How far is the train station from the ferry - we do not wish to walk - is there a bus or a taxi - we will be arriving on a Sunday.
