I have three days in Tanna and I am hoping to visit some of the less touristy kastom villages. I will hire a local guide and vehicle if needs be or trek. Can anyone recommend any villages that can be considered more traditional and less touristy. Also is it possible to stay overnight in one of these villages. I am fine with rough conditions. Thanks, Matt
I went a few years ago to Lenekal on a Rotary trip, there are some kustom villages nearby , make sure you go to the volcano, I can not remember who took us, but I could find out somehow. Make sure you take tablets to prevent Malaria and also use insect repellent, some of the villages have up to 97% of the population with Malaria.Based at lenekal you can visit kustom cvillages and the vocano as day trips, also go over to west coast and visit the white sandy beaches there (good snorkling) and also good snorkling near Lenekal as well.
