where are good places to see bears on vancouver island in early october? Also, I have read there is a good chance of seeing elk around gold river. Any tips on exactly where to see them?
Bears begin to hibernate in October so the longer you go into the month the fewer there will be. As for your chances of seeing wildlife - it's wildlife! Animals are unpredictable. You can spend a lot of time and money to go and see something and there is no guarantee that it will show up for your amusement. This difficulty is compounded by it being October. Ungulates will be on the move, from high ground into the valleys, as the weather gets cold and forage stops growing.
