Hi I am heading to Vancouver in a couple of weeks time. We are renting a car - sorted out accommodation and attractions to visit. Need a couple of good recommendations for good food - 3 days 3 nights. Loves seafood, especially oysters and crabs. Also keen to explore places where locals go. Really hope to get some very good suggestions on places and general advise what/where/when (lunch / dinner). Thanks!
Seafood; I suggest going to Steveston. I enjoyed a nice sea food meal there: PaJo's: "Fish & Chips Floating" - Steveston Restaurant Tip by pieter_jan_v PJ

You may want to have a look at the Dine Here website. This is a website of restaurants in the Metro Vancouver area where restaurants are being rated by customers. You can click on "advanced" to pick the area you are looking for a restaurant as well as the type of food you want (under "cuisine). This should give you a list of seafood restaurants in Vancouver: dinehere.ca/r/vancouver?c=16...

If you like a tasty gourmet burger then "Red Robin" is the place to be. http://www.redrobincanada.com/

Whatever you do and whatever is suggested to you do NOT go to a White Spot, they use to be very famous and popular, these restaurants are pretty much trash now. Over priced for what they offer. Other than sea food suggestions, for a really good meal try one of the Milestones in Vancouver or for a fantastic but expensive steak dinner go to Hy's, a Vancouver landmark for years. One seafood restaurant you might try is the Boathouse, and if you decide to go there, pick the one in the West End, nice views of English Bay.

The Boathouse is indeed a nice restaurant, I have only been to the one at Horseshoe Bay but can only imagine that the one at English Bay is very nice as well. For lunch you may have a look at the Old Spaghetti Factory in Gastown or the Steamworks Brewery at the start of Gastown. The Steamworks is pretty good for lunch, but it can be busy in the weekends. We once went to Fogg'n Suds on Robson Street and really enjoyed it. Not sure if it's still around as this was a few years ago. We have also enjoyed the food at Bridges on Granville Island, it's a bit more pricey but the food is good. Other places that you might be interested in are Earls or The Keg.

Ann75 is spot on with the suggestion of Bridges on Granville Island. Fog n Suds is gone from Robson St. Earls is ok, but is a step down from Milestones and the Keg again ok, but is certainly a few steps down from Hy's
