Vancouver cruise terminal transport to Robson Street

by judyandmichael Online Now Jun 21, 2012 at 3:26 AM

Hi everyone My husband and I are disembarking from an inside passage cruise in Vancouver in September and have booked Accomodation in a Serviced Apartment in Robson Street. Can anyone tell me how we get from the Cruise terminal to Robson Street. How far away is the Cruise Terminal from the city centre? Any affordable transport options would be most helpful, bearing in mind that we will have a bit of luggage to haul. Any advice is appreciated Judy, Sydney Australia

It is a very easy walk, when you leave the cruise terminal just walk South on Burrard St or on Howe Street. It will be a 5 block walk to Robson, at that point you will be at the 1000 block of Robson. You don't say what address you will be staying at on Robson but you can walk either East or West. If you opt for a taxi, do NOT stand in line where you exit inside the cruise terminal, usually there is a huge line up waiting for taxis. Instead go outside to the several hotels that are there, Pan Pacific or the Fairmont and get a taxi from there. The cruise terminal is at the North end of the downtown area, you can be in the center of the city which is generally considered Burrad and Granville. If you want to message me I can give you bus directions based on where your apartment is located. But with luggage I would use that as the last option. Walking should be easy for you unless you have tons of luggage, then cab it, cab should not cost more than about10.00/$12.00

Ok, that helps with directions. If you are arriving at the main cruise terminal, which I am sure you are, you can take a cab, it should take you less than 10 minutes to get there and again it should cost less than10.00. If you want to walk it, follow my directions to Robson street, forget about Burrard as you will be walking away from the direction you want to go, so walk South on Hornby or Howe St to Robson, turn left (walking east) to Hamilton and there is your hotel, the entrance is actually on Hamilton St. If by chance you end up at the other cruise terminal, it is about a 10/15 minute cab ride away from where you are staying. Also don't forget, do not stand in the taxi line at the main cruise terminal, you could be there for a long time, go out of the terminal onto the street and let one of the hotels there get you a cab, or just flag one down.

Hi We stayed in Robson Street pre and post our Alaska cruise. We had walked to the cruise terminal the previous day as our cruise tickets had not arrived from Australia and we were concerned we might not be allowed to embark. All was well, they checked we were on the manifest and said "Just show your passport". It all worked out well. However we took a taxi the next day, not much cost and far easier than carting luggage. Robson street is a very long street, maybe an easy walk if your hotel is located closest to cruise terminal. Vancouver is a top destination, I have many photos and tips which may help.

There are two cruise "terminals. One is at the foot of Burrard street, from which the closest point of Robson street is a ten minute walk. The other is at Ballentyne pier which is further East of the downtown area, and would be about a half hour walk. In either I case, I would suggest you take a taxi. You probably have luggage and Robson is a long street, so it's difficult to pinpoint how long walking would take you. Taxis are cheap in Vancouver so you are looking at about 7-15$ depending on the circumstances.

As suggested above a half hour walk from Ballentyne Pier if your cruise ship should dock there. Don't even think about doing this. The walk would take you through some of the worst drug/prostitue infested areas in Vancouver, if you do end up at Ballentyne Pier do as I suggested in my reply to you, take a taxi.
