HI there, Enjoy your trip to Vancouver! Being a local, I'm not too sure about good hotel deals, but I've heard that the Sylvia Hotel is good and relatively inexpensive, or you might try the local hostels to see if they have private rooms (see my Vancouver travel page). Anything downtown would be walking distance to many sights and things to do, or if you want a more bohemian beach lifestyle, check out the Jericho Beach hostel (a short bus trip from downtown). Located in the Kitsilano neighbourhood, there's lots to do there too. Cheers, La

Hi Orke, You'd definitely be looking for something downtown, in the West End, or in the Fairview area. I've done a little searching for you and found a few places that meet your budget constraints. Here are the sites I'd suggest you check out: http://onetime.com http://hotwire.com http://skyauction.com and maybe even http://priceline.com Now, if you're willing to stay at a hostel then the prices will be much less. Unfortunately I don't have any experience with these. Hope your trip here is a good one! Robert

Dave, Well ... as you know, if you go a few south of 12th Avenue then there are free spaces near Cambie, Oak, Granville, Burrard, etc. Near the latter two streets people can easily walk downtown or to Granville Island. Hey, neat place there on Homer! Good prices too. But do tell them that "deluxe" ends in an "e"!!! :-) Robert

I've stayed at that travelodge. It was okay. It's just off Granville. Close to the Nelson hotel, the Cecil strip club and the Yale blues bar. Not the worst area, but if you're not real familiar with Vancouver you might not feel 100% comfortable. I would recommend www.sylviahotel.com or www.barclayhotel.com Both are much better situated in downtown and in areas where you will feel much more comfortable to walk around at night. Bubba

Burrard Motor Inn is located right across the street from St. Pauls hospital. Vancouvers St. Elsewhere. A fine hospital with great doctors and nurses but it has the busiest emergency room in Vancouver and not because of head cold's or ear aches. Again, it's okay but....

Or, All of the hotels you showed me are near "noiser" streets. It's an unfortunate reality of Vancouver. But you'll be so tired from all the exploring you'll be doing that you'll fall sound asleep, I'm sure! Robert

The TL is a 1,5 star local and the DI is 3 star. I really don't like either but, if finance is a question go with the DI for a 15-30 difference. The DI is in a business area with NO down side. Chanel and the YWCA are both 1/2 a block away. Itis in a very nice and quiet evening neighborhood
