Hello, I will be travelling to Valencia towards the end of June and am wondering whether to pay for a car rental or else visit Valencia without the use of a rented car. My main concern in the city is parking, since we have booked a hotel in central Valencia. We will be interested in visiting nearby attractions/villages/beaches during our stay; is a car absolutely necessary or would you recommend against that? Is free parking possible in Valencia city? Thanks, Kenneth
In the heart of the city, many of the street parking areas are free, but not 24hrs per day. Some of the streets in the center are limited during the office hours. How long are you going to be in town? If you are only going to be in and around the city, public transit and walking can get you to most places easily. What is your distance/time range for your side trips? Things that come to mind (check my pages for more details) are: Morella, Sagunto, Peniscola, Cuevas de Vinromá, Denia

I always said car is the best, and been there by car, my family (now only cousins) are from El Saler just south of Valencia. parking is available on street and off street, if the hotel does not provide parking? for visiting nearby cities the car is best even with some public transport with the car you will see more. you can ask for parking info and prices at the OVA organism for parkings in the city ,email oravalencia@empark.es they will give the update even in English and a brochure in Spanish with parking info oravalencia.com/pdf/triptico... this is for the city center maximum of 2 hrs parking. then you can park for free off street if can find the space at your own risk.car that is. and on all these stations you can park your car for free and use the city metro system ,park and ride system metrovalencia.es/wordpress/?... hope it helps
