I've heard such conflicting information about traveling to Venezuela, but nothing specific about Valencia. My teenage daughter is traveling there with a small group of missionaries in July. Would like to hear back from some locals or other travelers to get your opinions. Thanks!
I have traveled to Caracas and Valencia often over the last 2 years. Valencia is a world apart from Caracas, even though it is a fairly short drive. The State of Carabobo, in which Valencia is the state capital, is a very nice place, and you have no cause for the kind of concern you might find in, say, Caracas or areas bordering Columbia. Valencia has a significant industrial infrastructure centered in the vicinity of the airport, where international conglomerates (like General Motors) base their Venezuelan operations, and Valencia is the base for FedEx into Venezuela. The relatively quiet town of Valencia is very accustomed to receiving and hosting international travelers.
