Hi does anyone know if the only way to see the salts and lagoons in uyuni is to take the 3day tour? Is everything very apart from each other? Thanks, Arly
I think a 2-night tour may be possible. Yes things are far apart - the salar covers 12,000 sq km

Hi there, I am not 100% sure if there are tours that offer to take you only to the salt flats but I can confirm that the 3 day tour covers a very large distance. The salt flats visit is only on the first day and then the next 2 days cover lagoons and rock landforms and wildlife. You can visit the lagoons on day trips from San Pedro de Atacama in Chile (they are closer to there than Uyuni) which makes me think it might be possible to do just a day trip to the salt flats near Uyuni. The full jeep tour really is an amazing trip so if you can make the time in your trip schedule I doubt you would be disappointed. Cheers, Rhianon

It is certainly an option to leave the tour near the Chilean border and enter through the Atacama. Or it was when I was... more
that's unfortunate. you'll have to take a bus there too. more
