I'm thinking of going to Ushuaia in September. Would it be too cold? Is it winter there or would it be spring at that time of year? What would be the average temperature be like?
you're not too far from Antarctica and there is only sea in between, it could be often chilly and very windy, btw be careful anytime you open a door of a car the heater are on also in summer in Usuaia, during day time * when not windy and in a sunny day * it's pleasant but you still need a jacket. to cut short.. I saw snowing once in late December there.

I once had 14 days in November in Ushuaia and like said above: it was mostly chilly with a strong, cold wind and even in the best sunshine you needed a jacket, but as soon as the wind stoped for some hours it can be like a real spring-day there and you wont wear more than a T-shirt (we had that 2 times for some hours within 14 days). BUT that was Nov., that is equivalent to April in northern hemisphere, so September will be much worse than that I am sure !

Yes, I agree with the previous posters ...but if you do go (hope you do!) then do take a catamaran tour of the Beagle Channel. It's amazing! There are opportunities to hire kayaks too. In the main shopping street there is a chocolate shop/cafe where some of the most delicious milk chocolate that I've ever tasted is for sale. Enjoy Ushuaia!

September is certainly no tourist season, so I am quite sure that the catamaran will not go !

Hello Do you still plan to travel to Ushuaia in September 2012? We have been there in December last year. Would be interesting to talk a bit about your trip. For sure I can give you some ideas of what to do and where to go. Please write back: derjenige-welcher(at)gmx.net Greetz! Guido
