Fitz Roy and Torres del Paine

Is it possible to fly to a larger town and rent a car to visit both parks?
Is it better to fly from Santiago, Chile or Buenos Aires, Argentina?
Thank you very much for taking the time to help me with this...

It is probably easiest to fly in from BA to El Calafate, rent a car at the airport there, and drive to both parks. It will be a day's drive to either of them. ( While you are there, don't miss the Perito Moreno Glacier )

With one or two exceptions ( Ush to P Arenas ), almost all air traffic between Chile and Argentina is routed though BA and Santiago.

Fly into El Calafate, I would catch the buses to El Chaten for Fitx Roy and down into Chile for the TDP Park. Car is doable, but the roads are poor condition and not well posted in some areas. Plus the bus is cheap as chips and good way to meet other travellers.
