  • Where to go for New Years Eve Party

Punta del Este Dec 23, 2012 at 4:40 AM

Hi there, my partner and I arrive in PDE on the 28th December (YAY!), staying in Playa Brava, and have a few questions regarding 'what shall we do for NYE.' Do you need tickets to get into various venues? Can we just turn up to beach parties? Is it best to buy tickets to venues/parties before the 31st? If we should buy tickets, is it easy as walking along the street to find vendors? And, what/where do you reccommend for a 30-36yr old couple who speak little Espanol (apologies), like dancing, like to meet great people to do for NYE???? Many thanks in advance for taking the time to answer our questions, maybe we can buy you a beer! :-)

Please help on cost of getting to PDE!

Punta del Este Dec 7, 2012 at 12:05 PM

Hi, I have just checked the Buquebus website for tickets to Punta from Buenos Aires for me and my wife and it shows we need a boat and bus. We are only going for two nights. The website gives a price1926 but I am sure this is a mistake and is supposed to be Argetinian Pesos. Is this correct? However as we are from England and convert this to pounds from Pesos the total cost comes to £260.00 for both of us!!! £260.00 for return tickets is quite expensive in my opinion - does anyone know if this is the correct price and if there is a cheaper alternative? Please reply urgently. Thanks for all your help in advance!!!

    Luggage storage

Colonia del Sacramento Jan 3, 2012 at 5:52 AM

Hi, I am due to be travelling around South America next month and part of the itnerary means flying into Montevideo and then travelling from there to Buenos Aires via Colonia (2nd week of March). We intend to catch the bus to Colonia and spend a few hours sightseeing, before then catching the boat the final part of the journey to B.A. However, as the 3 of us will be travelling with all of our luggage then we don't really want to have to drag it around Colonia.... does anyone know if there's a place to store luggage safely for a few hours? Alternatively, is it possible to check-in our luggage for the boat in advance of actually getting on the boat? I've read that if you're going from B.A. to Montevideo, then you can store it for free in the bus terminal prior to catching the bus... but I hadn't managed to find anything that confirms you can do a similar thing when going in the opposite direction. Any advice or other similar suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance, Darren

Am thinking about booking this hotel. It is also a training centre for tourism students. There are no reviews about this property. Would appreciate any feed back regarding the property. Apparently there are many of these Kopling training schools throughout South America.

  • Traveling through Uruguay

    Uruguay Apr 20, 2011 at 8:58 PM

I will be traveling to Chile in July by way of Uruguay and Argentina. My plan is to fly in to Montevideo and then bus to Chile while taking my time to see some things. When flying in to Montevideo is there a fee? I was going to be flying in to Buenos Aires but I found out there's a140 fee at the airport so I will be disembarking at Montevideo instead if there is no fee. Just to clarify, is there a fee to enter Uruguay at the airport in Montevideo? Also, I will be leaving by bus, is there anything I should be aware of like fees to leave by bus and enter Argentina by bus? Thanks

We are on a cruise and only have from 10am to 5pm to see what is important to see in Montevideo. Can we get a van or taxi and do a city tour and then what should we include in this tour? Is the Colonia Del Sacramento worth the 2 hour drive to go and see?

  • I don't know the name?

Colonia del Sacramento Nov 23, 2010 at 7:32 PM

I was in BSAS 2 weeks ago and made the trip to Colonia, it was pouring rain so we ducked in a Parilla right off the little park square across from the church and just a few doors down from the antique cars. Does anyone know the name of the restaurant? I am not a drinker at all, hadn't had a drink since I was 21 , and Im 47. But had the most wonderful wine there... it was Pueblo del Sol, and it was a rose... I would like to find out how to purchase it?
