      Ketchikan 1 hours ago

Coming in July on carnival cruise with dh and our 3 dk's (9 mnths, 2.5, and 5 yrs). We are bringing our double stroller (narrow- not wide) and a chest carrier. How easily can we navigate the sidewalks and stores with the stroller? I'd rather carry the baby and let the others walk but their little legs get tired so quickly that might not be an option. Is there anything the kids might really enjoy in town? And lastly, is there a nice green area where the kids can blow of steam or we could enjoy a scenic walk w /or w /out the stroller? Thanks so much!

      Sedona Jun 16, 2013 at 3:35 PM

When I visited Sedona last year, I went to an outdoor market at the Oak Creek Factory Outlets. There was a man who had a table of sterling silver jewelry. His jewelry did not tend to be Native American. He had some very nice dragonfly charms and pendants. I know this is a shot in the dark, but I'm wondering if anyone might be familiar with him. I would like to purchase a piece of his jewelry. He told me he lived in Arizona, but not Sedona. He is a silversmith., but he had retired from another profession.

I'm coming to Seattle in mid-July and I have never been there but I would just like to find a simple boat tour of the famous Sound. Afternoon/Evening preferred. I don't need luxuries, I just want to be on the water and in a boat small enough to get a good perspective of the terrain. If its possible to get close to any animal/wildlife/bird photo ops, or if there is a stop somewhere for this purpose that would be great too.

      Honolulu Jun 13, 2013 at 9:21 PM

Looking for recommendations for accommodation, restaurants, car hire and things to do which would be suitable for 3 kids under 6 years of age.
We are budget travellers which might be a bit hard in Hawaii but looking for self contained accom which is handy to most things preferably under US$200 / night.
We would like to have a good look around Oahu so car hire our best option i think. Just wondering if it is worth looking for accom on some other part of the island for a few days or keep our sightseeing as day trips?

    • First Time To GNP Early Sept. 2013

Glacier National Park Jun 12, 2013 at 11:16 AM

My husband and I are flying in from South Carolina to Spokane renting a car and driving to GNP arriving Friday Sept 6. and will fly out of Spokane home the following Saturday. Right now we have reservations at Glacier Campground in a camper cabin (west Glacier) for the entire stay. My question, should we plan to stay maybe 1 night in East Glacier or is the drive back and forth reasonable? We plan to see as much as possible and try to hike at least some almost every day. Most will probably be shorter hikes and we may try part of Highline Trail but not the whole thing. So I guess I am just not sure about driving back and forth multiple times in a week is doable?? Thanks for any suggestions.

Planning our Winter visit to the USA

United States of America Jun 14, 2013 at 6:28 AM

My wife and I are planning to visit our daughter in Dallas in December and intend spending about 3 weeks in the USA.
We fly into New York from South Africa and cannot make up our minds what cities we should include during our visit.
I have the short listed the following but need local advice as to which 4 or 5 we should opt for.
      Niagra Falls
      Chicago
New York Definite - Arrive 10 Dec from S. Africa, Tour then back back here on about 28 Dec for NYE celebrations
      Philadelphia
      Washington
      Memphis
      Dallas - Definite
      Baton Rouge
      New Orleans
Any advise ( with reasons) would be appreciated.
As can be seen we will be sticking to the eastern side of the USA. If there are other MUST SEE locations you feel we should consider please advise, bearing in mind we are travelling in winter.

We are also undecided as to the best way of travelling within the USA. I was thinking of using AMTRAC or Grey Hound. Any thoughts on this. ( I dont want to drive as you folk drive on the RHS whereas we drive on the left.

Is it feasible to book a tour that picks us up from our hotel or should we take our car? Or is there another transportation mode to get there from the Hilton Waikiki? This is for 2 children and 6 adults (4 of which are seniors).

I've also read somewhere that you are not allowed to bring your back packs, or purses into these places? Is that true?
