Gun crime, free country in USA (Closed Thread)
I don't want to alert any one, just a general question!
More and more we are hearing about gun crime in America over here in the uk and the tragic event of the news reporter most recently!
As far as i am aware USA is what they class as a free country,am i right? ie; every us american citizen has the right to own a gun..(please correct me if i am wrong, this is just my understanding)
Can you just walk in to a shop and buy a gun regarding you are over 21 (and also heard parents can buy guns for under 21,from the age of 18)
Do the American citizens just walk in to a shop and buy a fire arm,or do they need to apply for a licence?
Also, but worried about asking this question as i have no intentions of getting one,and i have no plans to visit usa for a while, but could i or any other tourist walk in to fire arm shop and just purchase a fire arm!
many thanks for reading this and look forward to your answers!
We are traveling by car from northern New Mexico to Kino Bay, Mexico taking I25 south through Lordsburg, NM. The 2 closest ports of entry to Lordsburg are Douglas or Naco, AZ. Does anyone know about these ports of entry? We would prefer not to go all the way to Nogales to enter as it adds miles to our trip. Thank you.
Anyone tried The Ride? It looks like lots of fun with a tour mixed with entertainment.
For those that have tried it, is it fun? Appropriate for kids (the site says 6 and over and our younger one is 6)?
Also, is it hard to get tickets? (with or without an explorer pass) If its something where you need to line up hours in advance, then not interested.
What should we do in Santa Monica for 5 days. It's our first time in LA 2 teenage kids Not going to Disneyland,
Are there any websites or local offices where I can apply for last minute tickets for shows - concerts, theatres, etc..?
Thanks for help.

We are having a 10 day holiday in New York,we are spending a couple of days at the falls and would like to visit the Canadian side, please could you tell me which documents we need to go over into Canada & back again.

We're coming to NY next week and I've been debating on getting the Explorer Pass vs just going to the attractions (I did create another post on this). We want to do the Landmark Cruise if the weather is nice (1.5 hrs so not too long for our kids). And we would be looking at a Friday 3:30p cruise (or alternative is 11am).
Do these cruises sell out or is there typically room? The pass at a current deal saves us around $88 USD, which is substantial. The downside to getting the pass is that we cannot reserve a spot on the cruise compared with booking with the Circle Line site directly. (Also, if it ends up being a rainy day, then we would have to skip he cruise and pick another explorer attraction)
PS - This offer ends tonight and my husband is away to get his opinion (but I know he was keen on the cruise too)
I am about to travel around the lower 48 states. I am bound to encounter toll booths.
I need to know how these usually work: cash, credit card, automatic?
Since I am visiting from England, are there some things I should be aware of? What is the best to organise myself?
Wondering where I might be able to fill my small trailer's fresh water tank close to my destination which is the Indian Creek CG. I'll be entering the east entrance, going thru Canyon Village and Norris before getting to Indian Creek.
Just bought the trailer and this will be the first big trip with it. Towing it with a 6 cyl and trying to keep the weight to a minimum.
We will arrive in early morning (around 8 a.m.) at Charles De Gaulle Airport, Paris, France on 18 Sept. 2015.
Then, we need to go to Paris Gare Du Nord because our train (Eurostar) to London will depart at 16:13 on Friday 18th September.
Can someone suggest me what we can do within 6 -7 hours in Paris?
Where we can leave our luggage (free of charge) e.g. somewhere in Paris Gare Du Nord, etc?
Traveling 2 girls aged 5 and 7. What are the best rides? Best shows? Best areas to visit?
Time saver tips...thanks
What are the best rides and shows for 2 girls aged 5 and 7? Which areas should we concentrate on?
Advice about times to be there as we have just 1 day...thanks for any tips.
Every holiday we play a game with our two boys to spot as many different US States licence plates while we drive around Orlando. This holiday is our best yet we have spotted 49 out of the 50 US States with only Alaska to go. We've tried everything to spot one to no avail. We only have 3 days left! Does anyone know where we could find one on a friends vehicle or a colleague you may know in the vicinity of Orlando. Any advice would be greatly appreciated and you'd make two (three!) boys very happy. Thanks in advance.
I will travel with a party of three (including one senior who gets around fairly poorly when walking for over a couple of blocks). We'll arrive in Albuquerque, NM, and have reservations for a shuttle to our property in Santa Fe. Now I'm considering staying at Santa Fe Hotel on the Plaza (to minimize driving) for this initial visit. The Hyatt Place Santa Fe seems so reasonable and nice, that I considered renting a vehicle and staying there instead. Hmm... Please provide anything you'd care to contribute about a 4 day visit to Santa Fe. More specifically, I'm interested in the following:
~ Dependable Shuttle suggestions for transport from/to Albuquerque, NM to Santa Fe
~ Small group tour of some culturally interesting places
~ Shopping for a few small jewelry items, small sculpture and/or art
~ Good dining (native, vegetarian)
~ Great spots for photo opportunities
I so value your input. Thank you, kindly!
Besides golfing and walking what is there to do in Eden Prairie. I have searched but find nothing. No historic museums; the art center costs big bucks for classes; the library offers nothing. I am a care giver looking for activities beyond the purely physical and the mundane activities offered to seniors. There are very few movies that appeal to us so we go through them pretty quickly. I was excited to find the Flying Cloud museum online only to find that it no longer exists. Help!
Can you suggest the best Flea Markets in town - Brooklin/Williamsburg...? I'll be there first week of october.
Thanks for help.
We (65+ couple) will arrive to Miami at Sept. 8, rent a car and try to see, tour, experience, eat and buy the best of Florida. Finishing at Sept 19 in Cape Canaveral, then we'll take a cruise.
Will really appreciate tips about places, tours, restaurants, attractions, etc.
We are finally planning out our trip to california.. so exciting! However, we have very little knowledge about the state. We aren't really looking to do the typical beachy california vacation. We are looking to get a feel of what it would be like to live there, and what life is really like outside of the big beach cities. If anyone has any suggestions regarding areas in california that are safe, scenic, and somewhat affordable, and preferably within an hour of the coast- please feel free to share!:) Thank you!
Hi there. I'm taking a 2 week trip to the US with my wife, starting in NYC (2 nights), arriving Nov 2nd. As the marathon is on the day before, I'm just wondering will there be any restrictions or limitations that may affect our short stay. Or will it all be 'wrapped up' and appear as if a marathon never even took place? Thanks in advance...
Me and my friend plan to visit Key West next week, I wondering if there is any immigration checkpoint there??
Anyone can help me answer this question?
Thank you :)
Anyone done the New York Explorer Pass and found it easy to use and worthwhile? We're thinking of getting the 3 attraction one and using it on Top of the Rock, Landmark Cruise (if good weather) and Ripleys or Discovery Museum. When i worked it out, it saves us around $65 for four of us (2 adults, 2 kids). And I like the fact that you don't have to squeeze all the attractions in on one day.
Anyone know if you can skip lines for any of the above attractions? And if you select to have the pass on your phone, is there still somewhere I have to go to pick something up (e.g. I've read people complaining about getting a voucher, and not sure if that is only for specific rides - or some guide book) ? I don't want the pass to be a nuisance.
Would love to hear feedback if others like it, or had issues using it.
I will be in Sedona, AZ next week, and would like to know 3 of the best hiking trails. My 20 year old daughter and I will be doing half day hikes and there are too many trails to choose from. We like moderate to difficult trails, but not dangerous trails (edges of cliffs where one false move you die). Please advise on the best scenic trails that would be a great half day hike.
Hello, I have been in Miami before, let's say I know a little bit.
This time, I have a connecting flight in October, the layover is for 6 hours. My idea is get out of the airport, go to the beach, eat something, walk a little bit. Any suggestions for that? Any local restaurant I have to try?
I am visiting Dodge City, kansas for a brief business trip. Since I am not used of driving in the US, I will be using public transpo most of the time. I would like to ask if possible to visit the City without driving your own car? Ie from Hotel to downtown. Airport to Hotel, hotel to restaurant . I know its almost impossible, but I can stay in the hotel on weekend. I just want to make sure that I can go from places within downtown and downtown to the Airport? What is the best airport for landing if I am coming from South East Asia?
Hi - we have 8 days in New York in october and wanted to see a little countryside whilst there. My idea is to get a train from Penn Station to Albany and then hire a car and drive to woodstock in vermont, overnight there and then drive on to Lake Placid, overnight there and then drive back to albany, drop the car, get on a train to NYC and go to the airport. Is this a good trip - or do you recommend better?
