One of my travel mates doesn't eat seafood (except fish), won't eat creole or Cajun food, is very allergic to black pepper, and won't eat pork or any breaded and fried food. She does eat beef and chicken. Where can we take her in NO that is moderately priced?

I see this access has a water fall pipe and is about 6 houses down from the pier. Does anyone have any experience w/ area? I didn't realize the beach location until after renting the house for June. I was wondering if I should seek other accesses such as E. Hollowell St. and drive instead of the short walk to the beach? I am quite disappointed in finding this news out:( Advice would be appreciated.

    • Best Lodging Deal for a Family of 16 in Branson?

      Branson Apr 1, 2014 at 7:08 PM

I'm looking for lodging in Branson for a family of 16 from July 13 - 20 at a place with LOTS of onsite amenities and kids activities. A suite of 4 - 5 bedrooms would be great, but we could get separate rooms if close together. I have looked on Ebay, Craigslist, and Redweek, hoping to possibly find a timeshare owner to rent from. We are wanting to keep it between $1500 - $2000 for the week. I think a timeshare rental might be the best possible option to fit in with our budget! Where is the best place to call or look online to find someone to rent from? Or does someone know of a way to get a super deal at one of the family-friendly resorts such as Tribesman, Stillwaters, or Westgate? Or is there another resort that I'm not seeing? Thanks for your input!

    • Flightseeing over an Alaskan glacier...which one?

      Alaska 7 hours ago

I am going on a northbound cruise of Alaska with my wife and in-laws. We are going on the Royal Caribbean 7N Northbound Alaska & Hubbard Glacier cruise.
It will stop at various ports along the way between Vancouver and Seward. We will fly back from Anchorage. There are many flightseeing excursions over Alaskan glaciers at the various ports during the cruise itinerary. They are of course rediculousy expensive and I will restrict/treat myself to ONLY one. I will be doing it alone or with the wife (the in-laws will not be with us for this period!). But which flightseeing excursion?

      Photography is my passion...fluidr.com/photos/phil_mario...
So I would like to be on a flightseeing excursion that is photoworthy and am ensured a window seat to shoot from, so it is best to be in a helicopter or floatplane where the wing attaches to the top of the fuselage as this doesn't obstruct the view as much as a lower placed wing would.

So the ports I can flightsee from are Ketchikan (Misty Fjords ), Icy Strait Point (Glacier Bay National Park), Juneau (helicopter over Juneau Icefield or a 5-Glacier Seaplane trip), Skagway (Chilkat Glacier system) or Anchorage (Denali/Mt. McKinley and Ruth & Kahiltna Glaciers).

I have been to Perito Moreno glacier in Argentina and will soon see various Alaskan glaciers from sea level so with this flightseeing trip I am most interested in aerial shots that best depict the glaciers as rivers of ice. Dramatic mountains are a plus.

Are there any well heeled travellers here that have been on some of these excursions and can recommend one over the others? Or know of other resourses I can use to find out?

      Sincerest thanks!

      Accommodation

New York City 16 hours ago

A member of my family is wanting to visit New York for a couple of months. They are on a very limited budget and we have no idea as to cost of renting. Can anyone recommend places to stay, flat share, decent hostels, living with families etc etc. We have surfed and found lots and lots of adverts for apartments but would like to hear from anybody who has actually stayed in shared accommodation,or stayed with a family.or recommend hostels and the like. What would be an acceptable rent to pay per week for a couple of months.
The preferred situation would be to share or stay with a family rather than a hostel as part of the process of visiting is to get to know people and everyday life.

      Many thanks

Hi, thanks for reading. Researching possible vacation spots for a June 2015 Family vacation...wife 2 girls (6,8). Want to stay somewhere on The Florida gulf coast. Already been to Destin and Clearwater. Looking into Panama City or Siesta Key...i hear great things about the two, but have some concerns. Are the Panama beaches rundown with run down hotels due to the spring break crowd? Will my family find enough to do at Siesta Keys? Looking for opinions from folks that have been to both beaches...which one would you choose?

    • Proposal in New Orleans

      New Orleans Yesterday

      Hello!

At the end of May I plan to propose to my girlfriend of 3 years in New Orleans.

This is my first trip to New Orleans, but she has been there several times and loves the city. My plan is thus:
      - Take her to a romantic and beautiful part of the city
      - Have a traveling jazz band kind of walk up to us and start playing for us.
      - Then take her to our NEW hotel, the most luxurious and romantic hotel in the city.
      - This event would probably happen later in the evening after we've had a nice dinner and some drinks.

I'm already spending a bit on the ring, so I don't want to spend an exorbitant amount on the proposal. My budget for all this would cap out at $500-$800, and I only need the luxury hotel for the one night. The rest of our time there we'll be staying somewhere a little more modest.

      MY QUESTIONS:
      - Where is the most romantic and beautiful view in the city?
      - How would one go about hiring a jazz band to appear in a certain area at a certain time?
      - Which hotel is the most romantic and luxurious and impressive?

I thank you for any info you can give me. Look forward to your responses!

Las Vegas Apr 20, 2014 at 9:25 PM

      hi guys!

my girlfriend and I are travelling across America in the summer. we've had a spot of luck in our itinerary which has left us with an extra night in Vegas. we are staying in circus circus and luxor beforehand and I've stayed in the stratosphere and flamingo on previous visits. I was wondering, could any of you recommend the most affordable penthouses or luxury suites in town? I'd like to treat my girlfriend to something fancy. I was thinking along the lines of: strip-view, balcony, huge bed, hot-tub, fancy furniture, large and spacious room. the works! but, as we're on a backpacking budget, I know this may be unlikely. best I've found so far are the SPA suites in New York New York. my budget would be around two hundred bucks for the night. thanks for your time, everybody! :) Benjamin
