Does anyone know how I can get the "An Insight Into Uluru - self-guided walks" booklet? I did not realize that it existed when I went to the Cultural Center or I would have gotten one then. An electronic copy would be fine. I am just trying to figure out the things I saw on the walks that I took.
Or, failing that, you can post your pics on your VT page and let us fill you in on what they are/might be? ;-) That is if we know the answers! :-) Take a look at my Uluru page and see if anything rings a bell? ;-)

Hi Ray - Wow, it's not uncommon to run across a downloadable copy of park guidebooks but I sure can't seem to find the one you're looking for. I did run across a general visitor's guide for that park - just don't know if the walk descriptions have the detail that you need. Will include it just in case it's helpful? environment.gov.au/parks/pub...

NR: I've already posted my Uluru tips, travelogues and videos. It's quite a lot but if you have a chance to look, I'll be happy to correct anything. I'll for sure take a look at your Uluru pages too. Thanks! Kate: I had already tried the 2006 and 2009 versions of the Visitors' Guide and link to the latter in a couple of tips. I thought the same thing about them... not much detail about the walks. Thanks for trying though!

Hi Ray, you could try www.travelnt.com/ or uluru-kata tjuuta culteral centre. or northernterritorytourisminfo... I don't know if you went on the Mala walk to see the anangu rock art and learnt about the creation of this area. There are quite a lot of different trails. Some of them are-- Base walk est/north Base south. Liru walk kuniya, mutitjulu, and the lungkata walks. I am sure the NT tourism may help you in your search, even if it is a map of the area and walks. Hope this helps. Dorrise

Dorrise: Thanks for the links but I am not looking for tours or road maps. We did unguided tours of the Mala Walk, Kuniya Walk and part of the Base Walk. I have done considerable research already but still cannot find the cultural details about some of the things we saw. Examples on the Mala Walk include Kurpany's Cave, the double mouth cave next to it, and the Anangu names for the two rock art sites. Other examples are the curved hole on the east wall of the Kuniya waterhole canyon (a Liru maybe) and Hunters' Cave. Actually of all the places we went in NT, Uluru had the least self-guiding information signs (probably because most of the tours are guided). Actually one of the better sources that I have found was an article on Tjukurpa (learnline.cdu.edu.au/tourism.... Another was in The Poetics of Gardens (pp. 53 & 55). Deb: Thanks for the offer. I have 40 Things to Do tips and two travelogues for Uluru and Kata Tjuta. Scattered among them are many questions about things that I could not figure out. If you ever have enough time to look through them, I would appreciate any feedback. The questions are mostly about Anangu names for sites or rock formations, and the associated Tjukurpa legends.
