Hotel and transportation from Alice Springs to Uluru

My husband and I will spend two nights in Uluru in October 2009. I need a mid-range hotel and recommendation for transportation to and from Alice Springs. We are both 60, a fairly fit 60.

    If you could stay a little bit longer you were able to make a loop drive: Alice Springs - Glen Helen - Kings Canyon - Uluru - Alice Springs. We did the first part of this trip in a couple of days, while staying in Glen Helen, Kings Creek Station (nearby Kings Canyon) and Curtin Springs Station (on our way to Uluru).
