I know that there are meal packages you can buy at Hexham Races, but I am trying to understand what the food options are if you don't pre-purchase one of these packages. Are you able to have a reasonable sit down meal anywhere? Any help from somebody who has been there would be fantastic.
A friend and I will be visiting England for the first time in May for 9 days. We're staying in London at the Park Plaza Victoria. After doing some research for weeks looking at soooo many hotels, this seemed to be the one I kept coming back to for location and preferred accommodation. Hope I made a good choice! We want to pack so much into this vacation as neither of us will probably have this opportunity again. We arrive early on a Monday morning and plan to do a lot of the major attractions in London on the first 3 days. On the 4th day we have a daytrip to Manchester....this was the best date for rates for train travel. The 5th day we plan on visiting the little town of Caston, Norfolk as this is where my friends ancestors originated from, so excited for her! Both these trains we will catch at Euston, London station. Haven't decided which day but we are planning to take the Eurostar escorted day trip to Paris, that is a must! We would also like to see Stonehenge, Windsor Castle, the Cotswolds and one of the must see museums. There are a lot of tours and anyone that has first hand experience on any of them, I would love to hear about it or any other suggestions would be great!
I think the biggest question going through my head right now is about transportation. Oyster Card, Travel Card? The travel card you get discounts on some attractions, so maybe that's our best bet, still not sure! I've read many articles how the London Pass is not worth the money, any input on that would be great too.
Also arriving at Heathrow at 6:30 a.m......take the tube or hire a pickup from the airport? I know the latter would probably more convenient or not??
We have a jam packed holiday planned I know but Hey we're going to England, have to make the most of it right! At the same time, still want to be thrifty and save where we can. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)
Is it possible to walk to monkey island from boulters lock and if so is it easy to find?
As I was searching for accommodations in Isle of Man during the TT race week, everything seems to be more or less booked. So, I got an idea to stay in say, Liverpool and do day trips with the ferry to Douglas to see the race, and go back to Liverpool to stay for the night. Does anyone have any experience on something like this or what's your opinion on this. There's two of us and we'd be without a vehicle.
HI there, I am keen to find out about festivals or events or forums being held in Europe that have an "alternative lifestyle" focus, especially environmental or human-rights related (and music too!). We will be traveling from late May to early August. Anyone know of anything inspiring? Thanks! Freya
We are 2 girls from Spain and Italy currently living and working in London for a few months.
We want to visit different places around UK, so we will go tomorrow to Dover. We would like to meet someone from here who can explain us the beautiful city and have fun. Does anyone free tomorrow to meet with us?
Hi! We're going to London for a weekend from the 28th Feb. We'd like to see one of the big shows, such as The Commitments, The Lion King og Phantom of the Opera. We're wondering if we should book tickets in advance or bank on getting discounted tickets on the day at the booth in Leicester Square. Do you think we're likely to get tickets to one of the big shows or are we likely to stand there and not get tickets? I know you can't guarantee anything, but we just want to know what is likely. Any suggestions?
I have around half-a-day to spend in and around Birmingham this weekend. Please let me know any ideas to spend the time. I also have my wife and 2 daughters (aged 8 & 5) travelling with me and any attractions for kids will also be useful.
My wife and I will be in the UK for about 6 days (our second visit) and want to visit Stonehenge, Windsor and some places in London like the British Museum. Wondering if it would be better to stage from Bath and make the day trips from Bath instead of the day trips from London. Any thoughts?
