Just bought a ticket to UB,have done little homework on places to stay . Will be there for the festival in July then would like to go the Gobi after. Anyone know of a safe and clean place? Looking for a like single room with private bathroom,in UB for right now. I did look on internet but some hotels are already sold out. Thanks in advance :)
Try UB guest house - you could google and find their website. Also, just try googling 'hostel mongolia' - there are many cheap clean little places run by individuals. There was an article in NYTimes (last November I think - their travel archives are free I believe so you could probably still find that article) and they wrote about UB guest house. The article said that there are always a bunch of young foreigners there with whom you could team up to hire a transportation to Gobi or other places. Good luck and welcome to Mongolia!

There really isn't much to UB. Two days will be quite enough. more
Agreed. It is not a big place, and the sightseeing quotient is pretty low. I spent about the same amount of time there... more
