Hi I am considering doing a day trip from udaipur. Does anybody have some suggestion where i could go? Thx!
Eklingji is 21 kms north of Udaipur and is an old Hindu complex dating back from the 11yh century. Accessible by bus or train. Jaisamand Lake, 50 kms south east, of Udaipur , It was made by damming the Gomti River and has many pavilions and summer palaces of maharajas in surrounding area. Take a look at Jaisamand wildlife sanctuary where you may be lucky and see some animals. Dungarpur , 110kms south has quite a few attractions inc deserted palace of Juna Mahal. The city is also known as 'city in the hills'

See my Udaipur page for info on the Ranakpur temple complex and Kumbalgarh fort. Either/both can be done as a good day trip from Udaipur.

Thanks Anil for your vote of confidence.... However, I have been to all the places so far mentioned (and made pages about them)- my choice would be (for a day trip) Chittorgarh. Tis simply amazing. Here is the link: "Once a Mighty Rajput Kingdom" - Chittaurgarh by lynnehamman

Lynne is the Udaipur expert so go with her advice. However, you can ask a local auto rickshaw (I paid 500 rupees) to take you to all the places in Udaipur and take quick snaps. Near to City Palace is a hindu temple (Jagdish Temple) that impressed me a lot. A day tour at Udaipur is not enough, you ought to stay for a few more days and not rush around
