When is winter season in Ooty

by msbinsaid Online Now Oct 18, 2006 at 12:34 AM

Hi, I plan to visit Udagamandalam (Ooty) during the winter season (would like to experience the cold weather). Could you please advice when is the coldest period to visit Ooty. Just a small confirmation...it does not snow during winter in Ooty right? Thanks for all the answers.

From November until early Feb. The coldest would be from mid Dec to mid Jan. During my visit in the coldest seasons there was never a snow.

Winter is usually from Nov.to Feb., but this year (2006-2007) the weather pattern seems slightly different. Ooty can be quite cold around last week of Dec. and first week of January. No snow, but perma frost forms on grassy slopes that lasts till 9 am or so. Best time to visit Ooty in winter is around January 10-20.

Hi Greetings from OOty.. From Nov-End of jan, its pretty cold weather. During X'mas & New Year week, temperature drops close to zero.. never snows but you could see frost early in the mornings.. Carry enough wool..get a nice place to stay with heating.. :)
