Hi, Can anyone tell me how to get to Chong Mek border from Ubon Ratchathani airport? Thanks a lot.
As previously posted, there is an 'international bus' that runs between Ubon Rathcathani and Pakse but BUT you could also take the bus from the main bus station (also up the road from Big C) to the border. I took one some years back before the 'international bus' that was a VIP bus which had originated from Bangkok's Mochit Bus Station (near Chatuchak Market) and was headed to the Chong Mek border crossing. It hit Ubon around 6am and stopped only long enough to pickup passengers headed to the border. With regards to the international bus, you might want to check it they require you to have a Lao visa in advance because like the international bus that runs between Vientiane and Udonthani, this bus requires travellers to have a Lao visa in advance because they don't want to wait around for travellers wanting to get a Lao visa upon arrival. Might also check the Thai Tourism Office for Ubon.
