What is the best shore trip or should we take a taxi into the center and do a walkabout... open to suggestions
What island? If you are flying in, it will be to Provinciales. If you are on a cruise ship, you will be coming in to Grand Turk. For Grand Turk, you can take an island tour without having to do it through the ship. The last time I was there it was right after the big hurricane, and all that could be done was to go to the beach or out to the lighthouse. We took the tour bus out to the lighthouse. All the shopping that remained was right by the pier. Before the hurricane, there was a bus that you could get a daypass and go out to the lighthouse and then on the way back you could hop off in town an do some shopping and walk around. I would venture to guess that this option is available again. You could also take a bus or shuttle out to one of the beaches and snorkel.
