Australians should note they have for some reason, been singled out for a visa fee increase to three times the old rate! At120 a double it will be very effective in turning away Aussie tourists. No explanation has been given.
how much Turkish people pay for visiting Oz? may the reason for increasing the feee is for reciprocity...

Do you have a source for this information? Because according to the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs it still costs only US$60 for Australians.

Yes, as already said,120 double. Possibly the most expensive in Europe and Middle East. Makes you wonder why they want to reduce Australian tourists this way?

This may seem fair, but I'm afraid Turkey needs Australian tourists far more, and there are much more of them. Or there used to be......

I visited Turkey earlier this year and paid the60 fee that at that time was applicable only to canadians. I was traveling with an American tour group so I felt a bit cheated, as we all flew out of JFK. I suggest however that you go ahead with your visit. Turkey was marvelous and the people were wonderfull. Omer makes a good point in that it is much more expensive/difficult for a Turkish person to visit either of our countries than it is for us to visit Turkey. I suspect that politics guides these decisions more than any intent to insult.

@Tommo Don't be afraid. We are not a poor country. If Australia needs tourist same issue here. During the world economical crise we kept growing. Unemployment even went down to %9 this month. We are gonna give credit to IMF et.c. A new 3+1 room flat cost at my district is starting now from 600.000 usd. And country is still helping poor countries more than the countries who says they are rich:)) for example Somalia half billion usd. Make it short; Enjoy your visit and if u stay in Istanbul say hello to us for cup of tea. all the best
