Help! - where to spend a few nights between Olimpos and Gorème?

by kalexandra Online Now May 21, 2012 at 8:20 AM

Hi, we are travelling through Turkey for 2 1/2 weeks. Here is our itinerary: - Kas (3 nights) - Olimpos (3 nights) - ??? (3 nights) - Gorème (3 nights) - Istanbul (5 nights) *2 spare nights I am still wondering where to stay between Olimpos and Gorème. We'd like a town that offers a bit of variety in our trip. This is why we'd like to go a bit towards the East, but Antakya would be the farthest we'd be willing to go. The town doesn't have to be on the sea. Here is our options so far: - Anamur - Sifike - Antakya - Side/Manavgat - Mersin Please, if you have any recommandations, plase share them!

Apart from a nice catle, Anamur has little to offer if you ask me. An overnight stay would be ok, but more than that would most likely get you a little bored. I personally really liked Antakya and the vibe the town had. It was not so much the sights there, but more the surrounding landscape and the vibe. For sure worth a couple of days in my humble opinion. I used to live in Side and really like the place, but be ware that it´s a town with long beaches and many resorts. It has a lot of turkish tourists too though who mainly come for the good nightlife and i think it´s one of the nicer coastal towns in Turkey even if it´s touristy.

Hi! I would highly recommend Side/Manavgat. I holidayed here a few months ago and had a fantastic time. I had never been to Turkey before and really enjoyed walking around the towns and discovering what they have to offer. I have written about my holiday here and you are very welcome to have a read through them. In Side, there is the Temple of Apollo to explore as well as a vast amount of ruines. There is an amphitheatre that on special occasions is still used for music events. There are also fab shops and cafe/resturants. I hope this has helped in some way! Hayley :)
