Transfer from Tunis or Gabes to Douz

Hi, we (2 persons) need to go from Tunis to Douz, and 12 days later back to Tunis. So when taking a rental car it is standing around the rest of the time and this is rather expensive. Does someone have a recommendation how to travel to Douz? I found it is possible to find a one way rental car from Tunis to Gabes, return it there and go back with another one. But then still open how to get from Gabes to Douz?? Are there experienced travelers with good ideas?
