I have just booked a very last-minute trip to Tulum, leaving on Thursday. Can anyone tell me whether any excursions are available from there, particularly to Chichin Itza and Uxmal? Also, do mosquitoes pose much of a problem? Thanks in advance! Globetrotter
I'm sure you will find day tour buses to Chichen. Chichen is approx three hours one-way from the east coast of the Yucatan peninsula. Uxmal is another two hours further south-west, so I suspect there would not be one-day excursions from the Playa/Tulum area. I have never been in the Yucatan in the rainy season (which is June plus or minus a month I think), but in dry season, there were no mosquitos when we visited.
