Are there English speaking tour guides available for hire at the entrance of the Troy archeological site? We will be arriving by car. I've read that the site is confusing without a guide to explain what you are seeing.
There are English speaking guides available. I do not know how much they cost, because I opted not to use them when I visited. At the entrance building, there is a large map and many placards explaining the site and its history. The signs are in several languages. As you walk around the site, there will be smaller name plates and brief descriptions. A guide will be able to give you some of the anecdotes, but if you paid attension in entrance building, you should be able to follow easy enough.

I agree. I was set to see some wonderful highlights, living up to the historic image and stigma, but it is mostly a small amound of ruins and the bulk of it has yet to be excavated. I enjoyed my side trip to Assos.

Thanks, folks, I appreciate the replies. Thanks for the heads-up about Troy. We're going to be travelling down the West coast by car, so I don't think it will be a big deal to stop in and have a peek, regardless.
