    • bike on train Orleans - Nevers

      Orléans Jun 22, 2014 at 1:14 PM

We want to travel by bike from Saumur to Nevers, along the river Loire.
After having arrived in Nevers, we want to put our bikes on the train and return to Saumur.
Between Orleans and Saumur is a train-accommodation for bikes, but we cannot find that possibility between Nevers and Orleans.
On internet we see some trainconnections between Nevers and Orleans.

Question: can we put our bikes on the train there and and travel in a fast way along the river by train.
Or do we have to change more times the train.

      Thanks in advance,
      Peter Smit (Netherlands)

Anyone been to Troo in the Loire Valley of France?

by Beausoleil Online Now Nov 12, 2005 at 6:19 PM

Hi. We are looking at a house in Troo for vacation. We know the area but not the town. It is famous for troglodyte houses (we are not looking at one of those!).

I'd love to know what anyone who has stayed there can tell us about the actual town. We know it is on the Loir, a tributary to the Loire River. We know a walking path goes through town, there are the troglodyte houses, a laverie and an interesting church at the top of the hill.

Is the town picturesque? How is shopping for food? Are there boulangeries, epiceries, charcouteries, etc.? Even a 8 à Huit would be fine. I'm assuming it's very quiet so if not, please let us know.

We do know the area, just not this particular town so any information would be appreciated.

      Thank you. 8^)
