How far and how long will it take for us to drive by car from Trincomalee to Jaffna? And what is there to see in Trincomalee other than the beaches, and Pigeon Island? Thanks :)
The drive will take minimum 8 hours. If you are not Sri Lankan you will need a permit from Ministry of Defence to visit Jaffna. Things to see in Trinco: Dutch Fort, Koneswaram Temple, Kanniya hot springs.

Thanks HansDK.. Why is it that a permit is required to go to Jaffna? Is it still unsafe? I was hoping We could go to Jaffna from Trinco in like 5 hours :(

You will have to ask the Sri Lankan Ministry of Defence why you need a permit. You can contact the Military Liaison Officer on +94 11 2430 860 for more information. Roads in the east and north are still in a bad condition, so I would not count on an average speed of more than 30 km/h.
