We will hire a car and travel around Slovenia. I notice that Trieste is very nearby Divaca, Skojcan caves (which we are going to visit) and we very much like to go to visit Trieste as well. Can any VT member advise me which international border check-points should I pass through (as it seems on the map that there are different routes between the 2 cities) and are the check-points opened 24 hours? We intend to depart from Ljubljana and visit Skojcan Caves and Trieste and return to Ljubljana within the same day. Is my schedule feasible and is it too tight? Any advice/information is welcomed.
Thanks for both of your information. My car hire company allows me to bring the car into Italy subject to a cross-border fee. We will spend only a couple of hours in Skocjan Cave and the rest of the day will belong to Trieste. However, my major concern is car parking (as both of you have already pointed out). Hi Keti, what is "you should use secure parking"? Hi Railfran, apart from Villa Opicina, is there any other convenient place we can park our car and pick up public transportation?

When you refer to "car theft", I believe you mean things inside the car being stolen, but not the whole car being stolen. Am I right? As we will leave all my belongings in Ljubljana hotel before departing for Trieste, "car theft" should not be a problem for us unless "the whole car is being stolen". Thanks.
