Hi, I will be driving from Madison Wisconsin to Niagara Falls in June and will be crossing the border at Sault Ste Marie. I would really appreciate some advice on the following: For an overnight stay which would you recommend, the usa or ontario side of the border? What route would you recommend for the onward journey? Is there a route that includes a car ferry crossing? 13 years ago I did a long drive around the great lakes and I remember taking a car ferry but cannot remember where from or where it arrived (across part of lake huron maybe?) I do remember really enjoying that ferry trip though and would love to find it again to enjoy with my children. I seem to recall spending a few hours on a lovely beach after the ferry crossing. Any clues and recommendations will be greatly appreciated.
We're planning a camping trip up to the Traverse City area for the end of the month. There are a handful of breweries/bars in town that we'd like to hit up in town at least one of the days, but we don't want to have to drive into town to do that (because then we can't drive back to the campsite - or one person would have to not drink - which isn't much fun since there's only 2 of us). So does anyone have a recommendation for a place to camp that we might also be able to get a taxi and/or some kind of shuttle that can take us into town and then later back to the campsite?
Mom and I are going to TC for the day and would like to have lunch in a quaint local restaurant with good home cooked food. Any suggestions?
I'm looking for a 1-2 bedroom place for my family within 15 minutes of Traverse City. I'm finding most rental places seek full week rentals for the summer, and we only need 4-5 days. Any suggestions? I'd even consider a hotel if it has a suite set-up, with separate living and sleeping areas. Thanks for any help you can provide.
