My husband and I are using the cheap flight passes with Virgin Blue airlines...must make three trips. So we can get to Townsville but really want to be in hamilton Beach/ whitsunday area. does anyone know how to do that without renting a car? Thank you
There are a few bus services that go from Townsville to the Whitsundays. Greyhound, at www.greyhound.com.au

The Greyhound bus does run but at 5;30 am and we fly in at 8:45 am. I understand the trip i sonly 3 hours but the bus takes 6 hours. Maybe I'll try to rent a car for the day.

Sorry I can't help anymore, I don't think McCafferty's buses operate anymore. You can fly direct to Whitsundays.

Do you have to go to Townsville? I am sure Virgin flies into Proserpine which is not far from Airlie and the Whitsundays. You can catch a taxi from the airport.

yes that was my suggestion as well...if not surely its cheaper to fly from townsville to whitsundays than to hire a car/fuel and time etc..I would check that option out.
