I'm planning to hike the W in Torre del Paine this September. However, reservations for the refugios are not possible through the 'Fantastico Sur' and 'Vertice' online sites. Are the refugios already booked up? Are there any other way to find vacancy? Thank you.
It could be that they do not take reservation that time of year because it is the middle of their winter. A few of the Refugio's open after September, some the middle of September.

Based on the schedule, the "W" trek would not be possible unless you are into some hard core winter camping conditions and comfortable traveling in snow shoes. That would be some trek indeed!

we travelled in the TDP in October 92008), didn't need to book, just hiked and there was enough room, of course, as a back up, take a tent, great fun and guaranteed a camp site and you can use the facilities and get the cooked food if you want to
