My husband and I are travelling to Niagara Falls, NY, and Toronto. Never visited either. We are flying into Buffalo and planned to travel to Toronto and spend 4 days there, then 3 days in Niagara Falls. What modes of transportation would be the best? Do we need a car? By best, I'm looking for convenience and cheapest. We were looking at hotels in downtown Toronto, but if we rent a car, we'll look to stay at a B&B to save the35.00/nightly parking fee.
Make a list of the places you want to see in Toronto and see if they are close to the subway system or street car lines. You may not need a car. You could also rent a car for a day or two while in Toronto. A car rental for a big city which you have never been to is sometimes wasteful if you do not know the city. In Niagara Falls ( Canada side) there is public transit along the river front. A car works for a trip to Niagara-on-The-Lake or a vineyard for lunch.

I went to toronto 3 times and I just walked around downtown. grab a map and you will see where the attractions are located. I went to Niagara falls by Bus and I find it cheap and save me some money.. Renting a car is Toronto is expensive especially if you will get the car rental insurance there. That's why in my second visit I got my insurance here in Winnipeg which is cheaper then pick up a car in Toronto.

Hi! I definitely recommend to rent a car! It will give you the freedom to move around as you like instead of waiting for a train to catch! Also, you will have the liberty to stop whenever you want and visit whatever you like. Last year, my husband and I went to Niagara Falls for our 5th anniversary. We contacted a car rental agency since we do not own a car. If I may, I really recommend this agency in Toronto that offered us a good quality service! advantagecarrentals.com/car-... They are reliable! I wish you a good trip in car! Enjoy! Ann
