Trains in Tokyo

by PrincessBek Online Now Jun 17, 2012 at 1:18 AM

Hello all, My friend and I are planning a trip to Tokyo in January. We are arriving into Haneda airport at 11.30 in the evening and need to get from Haneda airport to Ginza by train. Do train runs that late or would be have to stay at the airport for the night?? Or is there another way to to get to Ginza other that catching a cab at that time of night? Or does anyone now if we have to catch a cab, the rough cost from Haneda airport to Ginza? Thanks in advance!!! Bek

In terms of trains the last train from the International Terminal is: 1. Tokyo Monorail - 0:10 2. Keikyu Line - 0:00 It is highly likely that you will not make it to the final train. Depending on how full your flight is, and how many flights are arriving at the same time, you might find yourself running to the train. Many of the flights that do arrive at Haneda that late usually arrive a bit early, but there is absolutely no guarantee of that happening. The last time I flew in that late, I was supposed to arrive at 2030. Otherwise, you are looking at taking a taxi. I don't know the costs though. I need a bit more time to search for an online tool to check. :)

You could take a Taxi all the way, using internet fare calculators, nihon-kotsu.co.jp/taxi/fare/... ...from Haneda to Ginza stn. the fare is 7910円, and takes 36 minutes, or... you could possibly catch the late night bus to Shinagawa stn. at 00:40, 1000円, and then take a taxi from there. hnd-bus.com/route/nightmorni... This would save you around 2200円... so the round trip cost would be about 5500円 for this option, and it would take a little over an hour.

Considering the time you arrive at Tokyo, and that you'll spend at least one more hour before you get out of the custom and pick up the bags, and that you have a fiend to share the cab fare with, I'd take a cab to the hotel, if I were you. The traffic at that time shouldn't be too bad at all.
