may get to tag along on a business trip of my husband's next year and wanted to know the average price for a) bottled water and b) can diet coke/coca cola light.....separately, where are some nearby hot springs to tokyo, nothing too complicated to get to. thanks!
Bottled water from a convenience store or vending machine tends to be around 120 yen for a 500ml bottle. A can of coca cola or similar tends to be around the same price. Supermarkets sell these goods more cheaply, think 100 yen or thereabouts.

Soft drinks are around Y120 and can be as low as Y100 depending on the store/vending machine. I would recommend Enoshima for a hot spring area. It combines the history and beauty of Kamakura, with the beach and surf culture, all in one spot. You can't go wrong.

To be more precise, 500mL bottle of coke, diet coke, or coke zero etc. is 150 yen from vending machines and the convenience stores. 500mL bottle of tea is the same, 150 yen. On sale, they can be as cheap as 125 yen. Small bottles, roughly 250mL is about 100 yen. Water is about 100-120 Yen for 500mL. If you find a supermarket, prices will be cheaper. 500mL bottles are roughly 100 yen or less. 2L bottles of water can be as cheap as 100 yen each. As for hot springs, I didn't know there were hot springs around Enoshima. I saw one but it looks more like a spa though. For something somewhat within central Tokyo, Oedo Hot Spring is located in Odaiba. It is one of the more popular places to go as it mixes a hot spring with the old Tokyo. You wear a yukata all throughout the place and it is pretty foreigner friendly. Never been there myself but some of my Japanese friends said they liked it a lot as it is a lot of fun. Think of a theme park style hot spring. :)
