It really depends on How much you want to pay? Where you want to stay? What you want to eat? What your into - nightlife-wise? If you want a cheap version, or the Japanese-esque type accommodation/experience? Give us some more details about what you're looking for and i am sure a few VT Tokyoites will give you some great tips!

Well...I'm a musician (robotic synthesizer music)...so as far as nitelife, i would like to visit clubs that's into that type of music...for example the band "the polysics" love them! I must see the robots "Qrio" (SONY)and "Asimo" (HONDA) while I'm there... I'll also be carrying a hi-res camcorder with me...not sure of any restrictions? Dining...I would like to know the best places to eat japanese foods. Hotels...I'm looking for the cheapest western style hotel that doesn't have paper thin walls, so I can spend my last nite at the Park Hyatt***. Look Out Tokyoites! The Robotic Subwaymen are coming!!!

I know you said you want to stay in hotels but as for meeting people etc the Hotel New Koyo in Ueno is a good bet. Having a few beers in the lobby around 7 in the evening is a good way to make friends. Still it mightn't be your style..I mean you said you don't like thin walls and the walls here are made of kleenex and spit (near enough) If you like more "traditional" forms of music (rock etc) and you like singing I definitely reccomend renting a karaoke room for a few hours. There's a bit about that on my Tokyo page. Good luck

Kleenex and spit...that's pretty good (ha-ha) the discription of this karaoke place sounds like the part of "lost in translation" where they were doing karaoke in this room, if this is the place...I'm there! As far as hotels, I picked the Keio Plaza-shinjuku. I am totally pumped!

I'll arrive on the 20th too. Looking to go out on the 21st. Hoping not to get caught far away from my hotel after the trains stop. :) I was hoping to find someone local who wanted to show me (us) around. If they had a car we could stay out even later. Anyone offer to show you around yet? How about VTers in Tokyo! Wan to show Gregg and me around ?
