We're a family with two kids (9 and 12 years)- in Chiang Mai at the moment - in a weeks time we're taking the night train to Ayutthaya and will arrive there early morning. We'd like to get a boat down to Bangkok in the afternoon/evening - have been looking at the luxury option of going overnight on the Mekhala. It looks superb, but really quite expensive. Has anyone tried it and if, so was it as nice as it looks? I also wonder if anyone can recommend any other options - either overnight if there is, or a cruise including some food? Any suggestions welcome - also on the most laid back version to get to see some of the temples! Bikes are out of the question as we're finding the heat a bit hard to cope with... Anne :)
