We'd like to stay overnight and feel like our 'stuff' will be safe in the parking lot. Suggestions?

Hello I am thinking of driving from Miami to Gatlinburg the last week of the year. The route we will be taking is I95 to I26 to I40. I have never driven on mountains before and am a bit scared of the roads, snow etc. Can anyone give me an idea of what to expect in the way of altitudes and curvy roads? I would appreciate it.
Where should we eat thanksgiving dinner
Suggestions for a fun time! We radomly chose Nashville to spend a weekend celebrating our 50th birthdays because none of us have ever been there. We are from Pennsylvannia and typically stay on the east coast. It seems like "Second Avenue" would be a good spot.
Recommendations from locals are always the best. Thank you, Julie
We would like to visit the Chattanooga area next week. Will all the attractions be open. Or, has obama closed those too? We will be going up from Tallahassee in a motor home with an suv in tow.

Can I rent a bike in Nashville, is it safe
My friends will be in Nashville for 4 days in 2014. Jack Daniels complex is 85k away. They have searched on Google but cannot find a Tour to take them there. There are 4 adults.
They really did not want to hire a car.
Maybe a taxi but that would possibly be very expensive.
So are there any tour options or hire car with driver or ways to go from Nashville to Jack Daniels that anyone knows about.
Thanks in advance for your input.....and no no it is not for David and me.....his family though.
I will be making a trip down to Nashville with my girlfriend and 2 of our mutual friends to see old crow medicine show December 30th and I am trying to find out where a romantic not too crowded spot might be to pop the big question
My family and I are coming to Memphis in October. We will be at the Fedex Forum late at night. We would like to book a hotel room close to the forum. Any ideas? Safe neighborhood a must! Thank you!
Where is the best and safest place for families to stay in Memphis?
I have heard that Spring time is just as beautiful as Fall time in Tn! I would like to know when the best time for peak Spring time?
After many many views, reading 100's of comments we think we have found the cabin that would fill both couples expectations for a 4 day Christmas holiday. We found it on the HomeAway.com website. We spoke with the owners and were shocked that they are expecting the full amount (over $1400.00) paid in FULL by 8 October 2012 for a 22-26 December stay.
I have traveled all over the world, stayed in more 5 & 4 Star resorts than I can count and never and I mean never have I come across a contract that requires FULL payment, site unseen and virtually protects them from refunding us any monies if anything goes wrong from water pressure, shut off, hot tub not working/heating, etc.
Is this something "local" to Gatlinburg? I am concerned about signing such a contract and paying in FULL. I get that a security deposit and one nights stay, but the total seems way out of line with no reassurance in return.
Thank you in advance for your time, expert advice and any suggestions! ~M

Hotel, condo, or cabin/chalet are all fine.

Was wondering is there any small towns outside Chattanooga that might be worth staying in and getting bus into downtown. Or any areas of Chattanooga what might be worth staying in and getting bus in to downtown
