Can anyone advise me on the times and prices of local buses from Aswan to Abu Simbel? I would rather go on local transport than with a tour party. Thank you Sally xxx
I don't think there are any local buses.

You can hire a taxi for the trip. I don't know what it will cost, but it is about 300km. You can haggle for a good price after you inquired locally. You still need to follow the convoy. I know of one leaving at 5 am. There seems to be a second one leaving at......? I don't know. The early one will arrive at Abu Simbel at 10am. Back in Aswan at 2 pm. I guess the later one will be in the afternoon, but I once visited Abu Simbel by cruise and entered the Tempels at 2pm till 4pm and never found a convoy arriving. This was in late August. Good luck, Dora.

Hi we did this last November, stayed in Aswan and booked a tour, it was fine, safe, no hassle and hotel packed us breakfast to take along. We went to Abu Simbel, Philae, High Dam and Unfinished Obilisque (actually, no-one went in to see that cos we were all worn out!) We stayed in a good budget hotel along the Corniche, booking through them was LE70 each (transport only) and we thought it good value for the money. We met someone who had gone by private taxi, sure it was agreed at LE60 per person.... then when they go to Abu Simbel... another LE60 each to return! It's a long day which ever way you do it, but well worth it. Hope this helps
