Grand Canyon to LA via Route 66

Grand Canyon National Park Apr 28, 2013 at 11:15 AM

I'm just organising a multi centre trip to the US and I am spending 5 nights in Vegas and then I am going to drive to the Grand Canyon and stay 1 night there. I believe you can get to route 66 to from the GC but just wondering how as the driving directions from Vegas all take me to the North Canyon. I know that route 66 is south of the Canyon so how would you join it and how long would it take?
Finally where would be a good midway point to stay for 1 night on route 66 before leaving for LA the next day?

      Grand Canyon in December

Grand Canyon Apr 27, 2013 at 8:10 PM

We are visiting Las Vegas in December for 6-7 nights and we want to do the GC as well as Hoover Dam.

I'm starting with a blank, I know it can be done in a day on a tour as I am a UK travel agent and book this often but we prefer to self drive - hate buses and my son is Autistic so doesn't do well with group travel. We can stay overnight if need be but we are not into hiking so the easiest way to get to the best views is the best idea! I believe that there is a viewing platform made from glass? Is this worth a shot?

If we stay over night we could possibly do 2 areas of the Canyon, is this a good idea? Is there anything else in the area?

Finally if we don't self drive is the helicopter worth doing from Vegas? Or even the helicopter from the canyon itself? Is is likely to be busy during these dates?

How long is the drive and if overnighting is it OK to combine it with Hoover Dam?

      Any advice would be great!

Tuscon and area with a 17 month old

      Tucson Apr 22, 2013 at 6:12 AM

We'll be traveling with our 17 month old daughter to Tucson, staying with family towards the end of May. We will also be staying for two nights in Sedona. We plan to drive around a lot and see the Grand Canyon, but I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for places to see with a toddler (give me strength!). It doesn't have to be kid-focused, but perhaps parks or areas where little toddlers can run around and let off steam. I'm just starting to do research about this trip now so am really open to any and all suggestions. Thanks in advance!

Hello forum, I was wondering if anyone would have any good ideas as to where I can get some recommended condos for a couple of months starting in January. I have no clue as to how much one would count of spending per month, and what the availability would be. Any and all suggestions would be appreciated. Kindly Jim

Hi, I would love to hike over A mountain. I moved to Tempe short time ago and I would love to hike early in the morning, and that's the closest mountain to hike for me. Where is the main entrance??? thanks you

Hi all. I just found this site today and was wondering if anyone can help me. We're planning our first trip to Az. and are interested in the Tempe area. We'd like to be there for a few days the end of January. I live in So Dak and it's COLD here. LOL We chose Tempe mainly because it appears to be near the zoo and botanical gardens and seems to be out of the heavy traffic of Phoenix itself. Also, we understand they have bicycle trails that pretty much run throughout the city. What is the transit system like there? Also, if it isn't good enough for one to get around and you need to rent a car, what is the traffic like there? Keep in mind that I come from a state with a total population of about 700,000 people. LOL

    • ASU student bus pass

by cragunr Online Now Feb 6, 2005 at 6:15 PM

I am looking to move to Tempe this year to be with my girlfriend. Does anyone know if ASU, Mesa Community College, or any of the other community colleges near Tempe give their students free (or discounted) bus passes? What is the public transportation system called there? Thanks for any help!
